We’ve been hearing from families around the country about the pressures they’re currently facing with homeschooling, working, and trying to keep their families safe, healthy and well-fed - all whilst keeping an eye on how much money is being spent.
It’s evident that it’s more important than ever to ensure we’re all getting the most value out of the food we’re buying and eating… and we want to do what we can to help people cook delicious, nutritious meals for less. To find out more about what we’re doing, click HERE.
After months of research and development, we have now designed an initial set of four ‘Best Value’ Meal Packs, each designed to provide delicious, nourishing meals for families of 3-4 people at minimal budget levels - putting twists on classic family dishes and using clever hacks to get the most out of every ingredient. Using a range of UK supermarkets as a benchmark, we would target £1.40 per portion, meaning a Meal Pack with 3 recipes would cost a total of £12.60 for 3 people, or £16.80 for 4 people.

Frugal Faves
Forget takeaways, these family faves will hit the spot!
Chicken ‘n’ Chips with Homemade Baked Beans
This is a great dish for when you just want to chuck everything into the oven and forget about it! The wedges go on one tray, then everything else goes on another! All your beans ingredients go in together and reduce as they cook, with the addition of all those juices from the chicken thighs - all the flavour for zero effort!
Creamy Chicken Curry
Frozen spinach is a great alternative to fresh. When thrown into a sauce like this creamy curry, you can’t really tell the difference, except it’s much cheaper and zero waste. It can just sit in the freezer until you need it.
6-Ingredient Veggie Pasta
This simple dish has next to no ingredients and is ready in almost the same time it takes to boil your pasta. The great thing about Italian food is that by keeping it simple you’re never compromising on flavour. In fact, sometimes the fewer ingredients, the better it tastes!
Thrifty & Nifty
Simple recipes, BIG flavours!
Cheese & Tomato Risotto
Risotto is a great dish to have up your sleeve for midweek meals. It’s the perfect base for so many flavour combinations. This one has the kids in mind, using cheese and tomato to make it a hit with the whole family.
Bombay Aloo
Bombay Aloo is an awesome thrifty dish, because the main ingredient is a cupboard staple - the potato! We’ve kept it super simple, flavouring it with just curry powder and lemon juice. There’s also some of that handy frozen veg that you can keep in the freezer for whenever you need it.
Creamy Mushrooms with Cheats’ Mash
We’re going for creamy comfort food with this dish. Mushrooms, sour cream and a load of smoked paprika give a ton of flavour. The mash is made from tinned beans - a great hack for when you don’t have potatoes.
Cheap Thrills
Cook up delish food your kids will love!
Mushroom and Broccoli Pasta Bake
We make a really basic cheese sauce in this dish, then we cook the pasta in it to make this the ultimate one-pot pasta bake. One-pot = less washing up = less time in the kitchen!
Roasted Red Pepper Rice
We love this way of cooking tomatoes and peppers in this dish. We throw them into a hot oven in the first step, so that they’re building flavour the whole time the rice is cooking. Don’t worry if they blacken a little… that’s what we’re looking for.
Smoky Bean Chilli with Wedges
This chilli may be meat-free, but we guarantee you won’t miss it and it means that it’s great value too. It’s sweet and smoky with just a hint of spice, so the kids will enjoy it as much as the adults. It’s served with sweet potato wedges - perfect for dipping!
Spanish-style Omelette with Tomato Salad
Breakfast for dinner? We’ve packed out this omelette with sliced potatoes to make sure it’s super filling. It’s a really satisfying plate of food that’ll be on the table before you know it.
Super Savers
5 banging dishes the family will love!
Sausage Ragu Pasta
This rich, delicious pasta dish keeps it simple and lets the flavours of sausage, tomato, bell peppers and garlic do the talking.
Smoky Chickpea Balls with Wedges
This recipe achieves results that usually require equipment like a food processor with just a knife and your hands. The real star of the show here is the sauce. Roasting the veg gets a load of flavour in with no effort - then just chop and fold through mayo. For the chickpeas, just mash using your hands, flavour with paprika, and fry.
Beans ‘n’ Eggs with Rice
Eggs are a great alternative to meat. Couple them with beans and you’ve got a really filling veggie meal. The coconut rice feels like a real treat, and the quick onion pickle is a great midweek cheat for freshening up loads of dishes.
Sausages with Apple and Carrot Mash
Don’t tell the kids, but we’re hiding some fruit and veggies in this dish! The mash is sweetened with carrot, while the sausages are cooked with chunks of apple to make a perfect combination of sweet and savoury.
Fish and Chips
This is all about utilising your freezer and making fish and chips a little lighter for your midweek meal. We make a vibrant green mushy pea mash with frozen peas and broccoli, bake frozen fish fillets and finish it all with potato wedges and a dollop of tomato ketchup for that familiar fish and chips feel.
